Monza Record Run Revisited (1967-2017)

€250,00

***Last examples***

This limited edition duo set has been made to commemorate the 50 year anniversary of the Monza Record Run in 1967.

The 1967 R was the backup car to the record run car (001 R). Both cars were driven from Stuttgart to Monza over the road. Car number 002 R left Stuttgart to take the shortest road to Monza over Switzerland. At the Swiss border the car was stopped and had to return to Germany because it was found too loud with its open exhaust. So 002 R had to drive the detour over the French Riviera into Italy and then to Monza. The crew of 002 R was able to inform the crew of car 001 R, not to take the Swiss route, so they went over the Brenner pass (Austria – Italy border).

To commemorate 002 R the 2017 991 R was ordered in “light ivory” of “hell Elftenbein” so as to match the color of the old one. A factory delivery of 991 R was organized together with the 1967 R. Then both cars drove from Stuttgart over Switzerland to Italy. This time with no nose problem. This road trip is documented in the “911 LoveRS” book made by the Waft publishing house in Antwerp. https://waft.be/news/coming-soon-911-lovers/
