History revisited: two Porsche 911 SCRS’s going back to their Belgian roots at the ‘Rallye de Wallonie’ at Namur.

Back in 1984 the Gaban racing team made history.
They magically prepared the Bastos sponsored 911SCRS rally car piloted by Patrick Snijers together with co-pilot Dany Colebunders.

Being a small team compared to some of the players in the pack, it took them epic battles before the car finally became the Belgian rally champion.
The Belga sponsored 911SCRS, piloted by Robert Droogmans, also brought fears competition to the same rally stage.
Both 911SCRS cars are truly an important part of Belgian racing history.

Now 911motorsport is kindly invited to bring the 1984 Belgian rally champion back into the game.
Yes, the Bastos will ride again, as the opening car to all rally stages!

Furthermore we are bringing the Belga car too.
It will be put on exhibition: a perfect way
to go back in time and relive the past today…

It is with great satisfaction that we at 911motorsport look back at the Rally de Wallonie experience.

Because the SCRS Bastos, 30 years ago, prepared by J.P Gabon won the first edition of the Rally de Wallonie, the organizers wanted this particular car to be part of the anniversary.

911motorsport was happy to oblige and demonstrated the car as “rally opener”.

It was great fun especially as we were guided by Johan Dekens, a veteran to the Rally scene. Therefor thanks is due to Johan and his team as well as the compete 911motorsport team.

The organizers have promised us a place in next year’s exhibition, so we already look forward to that.

On Friday evening Patrick Snijers was reunited with his Bastos car, as well as Robert Droogmans with his Belga car. They both were able to do their demonstration laps on the Citadel of Namur.

It was like all fans and participants were 30 years younger, seeing Patrick and Robert sliding those SCRS’s around. Great fun to watch.
